Flying During Covid-19: The Positive Side of Air Travel

2020 has been unlike any year we’ve known, and things are different everywhere, including travel. But take heart because travel IS possible and in some ways it may be a perfect time to just get out there.

Our Adventure Specialists have flown several times these last couple months, both solo and with family, and we all agree - we weren’t at all inconvenienced. In many ways flying was actually better.

So if you’re itching to walk down that airplane aisle, here are our top three takeaways . . .

1. EASE

Checking in, security and baggage claim are so simple now - with lower crowds and enhanced systems in place everything is moving along so smoothly. It’s actually really nice.

2. COST

Flying now can be a huge bargain! And with the airlines being so accommodating with changing travel plans switching your flight is not at all the hassle it used to be. Change fees are quickly becoming a thing of the past (ONE positive of this pandemic, right?) Some airlines are also committing to leaving middle seats open through at least the end of October.

3. CAMARADERIE

People traveling right now all have one thing in common - they want to get out there! We have found that our fellow passengers have been courteous, compliant and willing to do what’s necessary to make sure travel can happen, and happen safely. We felt a kinship with the other folks on board because we shared the same sensibility about being able to do what we love even in these very different times.

We understand that everyone’s comfort levels are different when it comes to traveling, where, when, how, etc. And we encourage everyone to be safe especially if they are vulnerable. But for you fellow journeyers out there, we want to share our biggest takeaways from traveling right now. When you’re ready, it’ll feel so good to get on board and go see stuff!
