Magic Bands: Love Them or Leave Them?
With a new year comes change, and in 2021 that includes modifications to the Magic Band system at Walt Disney World. Starting January 1st, Magic Bands will no longer be automatically included with your vacation package. Disney added features and upgrades to the My Disney Experience app and with that new focus, Disney is encouraging guests to use that instead.
While we are looking forward to the new & improved app, all of us at Pixie & Pan are big fans of the Magic Band system and the benefits it provides. Plus, with all the new styles and designs (slap band bracelets anyone?) a Magic Band can add some flair and style to your Disney outfit every day!
We think it’s worth purchasing Magic Bands for your next Walt Disney World vacation.

1. Simplicity
Magic Bands make your Disney vacation life easy! It’s your room key and your park tickets - all right there on your wrist. No fiddling with your phone or ticket key cards at park entry, just scan and go. And getting into your room at the end of a busy day is a breeze. Having a Magic Band means there’s less for you to manage!
2. Contactless Payments
With increased focus on minimizing interaction with others, for a resort guest, a Magic Band really helps, especially when it comes to payments on property. Just link a credit card to your My Disney Experience, then a simple tap of your band and pin number and you can easily make purchases at the parks, at your resort hotel, or even Disney Springs. No need for cash or fumbling for credit cards. (Note: you must be an on property guest to charge to your band).
3. Battery Life
Using your phone throughout the day for everything now from scanning into the parks, to choosing and redeeming your fastpasses (which will hopefully return in 2021) can really drain your battery in no time. If you add opening your hotel door and scanning park passes to the mix, that’s just more heavy lifting for your phone - and no one wants to run out of charge at Disney!
